Steve Bowling Contracting were awarded the contract to complete 255m of concrete roadways by Fulton Hogan in 2015. The up to 5m wide concrete roadway was to create access to the house sites throughout a subdivision.
The concrete driveways were over farmland. This meant that there were a multitude of different contours, corners & elevations that had to be managed effectively to ensure consistency & a high level finish.
The remote location of the site & lack of telephone coverage meant that pre-planning was key to the success of the works. A ‘roller bug’ concrete finish was chosen in areas of steep terrain and a was used to give a very coarse surface to maximise skid resistance.
Trowel cuts were installed as the concrete was poured followed by saw cutting, 24 hours later.
